An example of The Common Good through music

“Won’t you be my Neighbour”  Mr. Rogers

This song was the opening song for The Mister Rogers Show which lasted for over 30 seasons of the show. It has a very simple and clear message which has been influencing the lives of millions of people for years.  It brings people together and has taught children who are now adults from a young age to embrace values and things that should be considered for when they’re older.   In the show they pushed all boundaries and presented children with how to overcome them.  They dealt with race by bringing a black character on the show when it was still a big issue. He introduced aspects of religion when a white and black person were washing their feet together which represented Jesus washing the feet of his disciples.  This song was the representation of a show that offered safe learning, optimism, and brought people together when it was truly needed, and possibly during these times might just be needed again.
